A few months back we talked about some ways to create a tasteful western themed wedding, but of course it’s more fun to harp on all of the hilariously bad examples out there. The things that make most people run screaming at the mere thought of a country western wedding are exactly what we’re going to look at today. Giddy up!
The first (and worst) mistake that anyone could ever make, is deciding to wear a denim dress. I have performed extensive and scientific research on this topic (not really), and there is absolutely no way to make this look good.
Denim Wedding Dresses
Is this really how you want to remember your wedding day?? It’s supposed to be the best day of your life, but nobody looks their best in an outfit like this. Nobody.
Poofy ‘Southern Belle’ Dresses
Eevry bride wants to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world on her wedding day. She wants to feel feminine, delicate, and effortlessly flawless. Now, pause for a minute and think about whether any of those things describe the image above. No. This dress is heavy, matronly and outdated, yet this is the type of thing that is being marketed to western brides. Yikes!
Overly Authentic Setting and Decor
So you’ve always dreamed of getting hitched on your old grandaddy’s farm, where you used to spend summers as a kid. As cute as you might think it would be to have your guests arrive in a wagon, sit on straw bales, and dance in a barn, I doubt anyone would actually enjoy that. Blus, nobody likes cow dung on their dress shoes (unless they’re cowboy boots perhaps), or hay bits in their hair.
You want your big day to be memorable, but for the right reasons, and not because you fell into these or one of many other awful cliches. Heed our warning!
